Shifting Channels is really just a simple conversation -- about what we watch, how we watch, and what we like. We're also going to try to make some sense of the rapidly changing medium of television -- broadcast, cable, TiVo, DVD, on-demand, online. Where will our stories come from in the coming years, and will they be barely watchable or better than ever?
Nicole used to sneak into the spare room to watch Dynasty when her mom thought she was asleep. In her top ten favorite shows of all time are the Dick Van Dyke Show, The Wire, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You can also find Nicole at Big Sister and Stash and Burn, a podcast about knitting.
Harold thinks most television is awful, but that doesn't stop him from loving it. His top ten includes Larry Sanders, Freaks and Geeks, and Mr. Show. He's still waiting for Tenspeed and Brownshoe to make it to DVD. His personal blog and his review site, Media Nugget, are rarely updated, but that's no reason not to check them out.
Most of our shows will run a little under a half hour, and we'll try to post a new episode every Friday. Thanks for tuning in. If you've got comments, questions, or free DVD box sets you'd like us to have, feel free to .
