>What's the Deal with Seinfeld?
Episode 27 (click to play/pause)

Harold and guest host Jon Brooks discuss Seinfeld -- watching it on DVD, their favorite episodes and story arcs, as well as a detailed analysis of the show's cultural themes and subtexts. Fun!

Fun conversation!
I do have to make one correction, though. Elaine's character was not Jewish. She accidentally sent out a famously naughty Christmas card, and there's a whole episode about her "shiksa" status..

Lee,
I think none of them were officially Jewish except for Jerry. But I view that as a concession to the network or whomever's attempt to not make the show overly concerned with Jews.

I thought it was interesting that you gave Jerry Seinfeld credit for not going out and trying to start a film career. My thinking on this has always been that was more because he cannot act. Now, I am not saying that those jokers at SNL are great thespians, but they have some acting ability. Jerry could hardly keep a straight face most of the time and had about two tonal inflections in his voice.
That said, I loved the show when it was on. If nothing is on I will watch re-runs if I see them. It will be interesting to see if it holds up as a "classic" sitcom.
